The presence of women in key roles in the mining industry has grown significantly in recent years, marking a turning point in a sector traditionally dominated by men. More and more women are taking decision-making positions, assuming leadership, and showing their ability to successfully manage critical operations across the mining value chain.
At INEL, we are proud to have women in strategic roles who contribute to the success of our company and to the progress of the industry as a whole. Among them, a key figure is Josefina Morgado, our Executive Director, whose solid track record in process optimization and team leadership has made her a reference in the management of mining operations.
Josefina Morgado
Josefina Morgado is a professional with more than a decade of experience in the mining industry, focused on optimizing crushing and screening processes, key areas within our company. Her ability to lead highly trained teams has allowed INEL to maintain its position as a reference in aggregate production and mobile crushing services, meeting the challenges posed by the high complexity of mining processes.
Recently, Josefina joined Women in Mining Chile, a nongovernmental organization dedicated to promoting the inclusion and professional development of women in the mining industry. This step is not only a recognition of her leadership and experience, it also reinforces the commitment of INEL to promoting gender equity in the sector.
Women in Mining Chile
Women in Mining Chile was founded on August 21, 2015, with the goal of making women's participation in mining visible and promoting it. Today, the organization has more than 1,100 members, including professionals and students, who seek to transform the industry through equal opportunity and the recognition of women's talent in every position of the value chain. Its mission focuses on increasing the visibility and participation of women in decision-making roles, as well as highlighting their contributions to the development of mining nationally and internationally.
The commitment of Women in Mining Chile to promoting women's talent in areas such as management, operations, and maintenance has been key to making visible the work of highly trained and talented women like Josefina Morgado. The organization has worked tirelessly to increase recognition of women's work in the industry, opening doors for more women to take on leadership roles in areas as demanding as crushing and screening, activities in which INEL specializes.
Women's presence breaks barriers
Bringing women into operational areas such as crushing reflects not only progress in gender equity but also a cultural change in mining. Traditionally, crushing and screening operations have been tied to a male-dominated environment, due to the demanding conditions and the technical nature of the work. However, the women who have entered these areas have shown an unmatched ability to meet the industry's challenges, contributing to process optimization and to better operational efficiency.
We are proud to have women who lead and actively participate in these key areas. Their experience and skills not only add to our growth as a company, they also contribute to the progress of the entire mining industry.
A more inclusive future in mining
The presence of Josefina Morgado at INEL and her recent membership in Women in Mining Chile are just examples of how women are taking on increasingly relevant roles in mining. These advances are not only positive from an inclusion perspective, they also show that diversity in decision-making leads to more innovative and efficient solutions.
We remain committed to promoting gender diversity and women's empowerment in every area of our company, especially those tied to technical operations and project management. We know that the future of mining depends on the collaboration and joint work of all professionals, regardless of gender.
We thank Women in Mining Chile for its invaluable work promoting women's talent and hope to remain an active part of this transformation in the mining industry.
